Examples of match graphics for the International Cricket Council (ICC) events.


In 2007 ESPN STAR Sports attained the global rights for the ICC events. Part of the commitment for this was to design and implement a match scoring system for the on air presentation.

I initially designed the style for the graphics and created key templates such as fullframes, tickers, 2 line lower 3rds etc in Photoshop, before Alston Elliot adapted my designs for VIZrt generating multiple iterations to cover the various facets of live cricket. For the ICC events ESS also consults with director, designer and live sports broadcasting encyclopedia Simon Normington. He provided gainful insights into live match graphics, what other sportscasters were doing for their cricket graphics and what to avoid in development of the ICC style.

The resulting graphics were clean, sophisticated and generally regarded a success and have remained so over the 3+ years of use on the ICC world feeds.
